It only takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch…but what if the entire bunch is comprised of bad apples? Master thief Edward Pierce (Sean Connery) is after his biggest score yet – a shipment of gold belonging to the English government. Pierce must recruit a crew of unsavory characters, including his mistress Miriam and renowned safe-cracker Ager (Donald Sutherland). For Pierce, the hardest part of this already-hard job might just be keeping this bunch from spoiling until payday.
The Great Train Robbery is based of a 1975 novel by author Michael Crichton, who wrote numerous books that were later adapted into films, including The Andromeda Strain (1969), Congo (1980), and, most notedly, 1993s Jurassic Park. Crichton also took a turn behind the camera himself, writing and directing Westworld in 1973.
